Let me attempt to paraphrase "The New Campus Culture Wars", an attempt to deal with "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day" by Eboo Patel:
Campuses ruthlessly censor and demonize every deviation from orthodoxy in matters racial, sexual, cultural, and/or ethnic: all in the in the service of the sweet-sounding causes of "multiculturalism", "inclusiveness" and "diversity". Social outrage can be called up at the drop of a politically-incorrect hat.Exaggerating. But not by much.
So, hey, why don't we do the same thing for religion? Free speech really shouldn't be tolerated in any area, if someone feels all oppressed about it.
In the meantime, Iowahawk explains why he didn't participate in the festivities:
Because if "humor" today means mocking the founder of one of the world's great religions -- one with a proud 1400 year history of art, science, scholarship, and beheadings -- well mister, you can count this humble internet funnyman out.Read the whole thing.
